Job Description

Modern Protoshop is looking for a highly motivated CNC operator / setup / programmer.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 Years of previous programming and operating experience
  • SURFCAM knowledge a plus
  • Experience with Haas Vertical Mill a plus
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting of equipment independently
  • Ability to program, setup and operate machinery independently with minimal supervision
  • Read and interpret blueprints and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures and machining methods and sequences.
  • Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for the machining operation
  • First article inspection and inspection of parts during production to maintain quality throughout the production run.
  • CMM experience a plus
  • CAM software experience required
  • Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures
  • Time managing skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines

About machine shop:

This is one of the cleanest shops you’ll ever see. We hold a high standard in machinists, tooling, technology, techniques, and tolerances. This position is an opportunity for learning and potentially pushing limits. One main purpose of this Protoshop is to support our diamond turning shop, which produces mirror quality finish and form with ultra precise lathes. The right professional machinist will find unique opportunities here with our team of accomplished machinists and engineers. PIKE Technologies is hiring an Optical Assembler to be responsible for our precision optics products following fabrication through shipment. This position requires attention to detail for the handling, cleaning and inspection of lenses and mirrors. 20/20 vision or corrected vision is required along with arm-hand steadiness for quickly and repeatedly adjusting the controls of precision equipment to exact positions. Parts are often very small and require the use of a microscope. The employee shall contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment, often in a clean room. Manufacturing experience in a production environment is a plus.

Tasks include cleaning and assembling optics, alignment with standard equipment such as spindles and indicators, precision painting and gluing, optical metrology, focusing images and inventory management. Critical thinking with the ability to learn and apply math and geometry is required. Computer skills necessary to manage and perform basic analysis of measurement data is a plus (e.g., Excel).

This position provides an opportunity to work with high tech equipment in an interesting scientific environment. Each member of the small team should be excited for new and upcoming projects while balancing established tasks. Keys to success include communication about decision making, independent judgement of quality control, contributing appropriately to writing and testing of procedures, and collaboration with engineers.
